In Memory of Marilyn A. Otto
Marilyn Ann Otto, age 86, of Barron, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Barron Hospital in Barron.
She was born on October 25, 1936 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Michael and Helen (Haflinger) Mitchell.
She grew up in Sarona, where she attended grade school and graduated from Spooner High School in 1955. On November 2, 1956, she married Robert Otto at the Collingwood Church in the Town of Cumberland where the two of them took over the Otto family farm. Together they raised four loving children.
Marilyn enjoyed walking, reading, fishing, riding her snowmobile, spending time at Big Sissabagama campground with family, gardening, volunteering at Mayo Hospital, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and most of all, mowing lawn. Marilyn was a member at Collingwood and Salem Lutheran Church.
She is survived by children, Cathy (Jeff) Sorensen (daughter) of Amery, Vicky (Don) Peterson (daughter) of Osceola, Robert (Kathy) Otto (son) of Cumberland, and John (Kerri) Otto (son) of Osceola; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Karen (Rod) Bauch of Somerset; sister-in-law, Joan Church of Barron; her goddaughter, Debbie Church of Barron, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Otto.
Funeral services for Marilyn Otto will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Barron at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 with Rev. Michael Nielsen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The service will be live streamed on the Salem Lutheran Church facebook page. Burial will be at Collingwood Cemetery in the Township of Cumberland.
Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
