In Memory of Margaret A. Brown

August 19, 1940 - March 16, 2024

Margaret Ann Sweet Brown, age 83 passed away on March 16, 2024 due to complications from pneumonia. Born on August 19, 1940, she arrived 23 minutes behind her twin sister Marian, to Irene and Austin Sweet in Cumberland, Wisconsin. She was the fifth of six children and grew up on the family farm in Barronett.

After graduating from Cumberland High School in 1958 she attended Dominican College in Racine, Wisconsin, and UW Superior before answering an ad for Northwest Airlines. This small-town girl loved being a flight attendant, making trips to the east coast, Hawaii, Japan, and many midwestern cities while based in Seattle, Washington. While there she married Jack Neurer and they welcomed three kids, eventually settling in Webster, where their home was a welcoming hub for their kids, dog Rusty, and whatever friends were around playing ball or getting into trouble.

Margaret worked at the Kaefer Dental Clinic, getting to know families, working with the high school students, and having coffee breaks with her best friend Mary Beth. She was the first woman elected to the Webster Village board and spent her first paycheck on a fancy new microwave. She shared many of these happy years with Virgil Highstrom, attending high school sporting events, dining by the lake, and even riding motorcycles. She later worked at Nexen as a shipping clerk until her retirement.

Margaret found love again with Daniel Brown and they married in 2001, moving to their home on Point Lake. They enjoyed two decades before his passing, traveling to the north shore, hiking, and taking their dog Abby on pontoon rides.

Margaret had a soft spot for birds. She created beautiful quilts and cooked the best spaghetti. She was stubborn and funny; warm and loving. She collected butterflies, enjoyed reading in the sunshine, and talking with her sister Marian every day. She was proud of being a good mom and of having wonderful grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents Anna Irene Mitts Sweet and Charles Austin Sweet, brother Robert Sweet, sister Harriet Spangenberg, and her first baby boy.

She is survived by her brother Doug Sweet (Pat), sister Marian Hanson (Roger), brother Gordon Sweet (Monica), children Kristen Neurer (Eric Molter), Louie Neurer (Bridget), and Aaron Neurer (Mari), grandchildren Jack Molter, Libby, Annabelle, Caroline, and Ruth Neurer, and Mallory, Cameron, and Luca Neurer as well as many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will take place on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10-11 AM) at Grace United Methodist Church in Webster, WI with Rev. Samuel Subramanian officiating.

Thank you to the teams at Regions Hospital progressive floor and St Therese at St. Odilia Hospice for their compassionate care.

Donations in Margaret’s memory will be made to the Webster School Backpack Program.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
