In Memory of Lydia J. Skubnik


December 4, 1929 - July 17, 2022

Lydia J. Skubnik, age 92, passed away on July 17, 2022, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin at the Cambridge Senior Living Home.

Lydia was born to Jewel and Luther Oldham on December 4, 1929, in Como, Mississippi.

Lydia enjoyed watching the birds, especially the hummingbirds at the feeder on her deck. She also enjoyed knitting and making washcloths for everyone. Lydia was an avid reader and gardener, her flower garden was always extraordinary and beautiful. She liked to watch professional basketball and baseball, cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers over these past years. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family. She will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Luther Oldham, her husband of 59 years Joseph Skubnik Jr., and her two brothers Millard and William Oldham.

Lydia is survived by her four children; Janet (Nathan) Short of Midlothian, IL, Allen Skubnik of Blue Island, IL, Lisa (Tom) Page of Charleston, IL, and Rhonda (David) Swangim of Chetek, WI, 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren with another on the way and coming in November.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Faith Baptist Church in Chetek, WI at noon on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, with a visitation held an hour prior. Lydia will be laid to rest in the Lakeview Cemetery. Following the service and burial, the family will be hosting a luncheon and fellowship in the church hall.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
