In Memory of Lucy E. Nicklow
Lucy Ellen (Caldwell) Nicklow, age 91, of Barron, passed away on Saturday, January 28 at Monroe Manor in Barron.
Lucy was born April 9, 1931 at Barron to Harry and Florence (Thompson) Caldwell. She was 5th of their five children. Lucy married Clyde Nicklow on December 8, 1951 in Florida and then moved to Arlington, VA where Clyde was stationed in the Army.
After Clyde was discharged from the Army, they moved back to Minneapolis where she worked at Bell Telephone as she had also in D.C. Later, they lived in Hawaii for a few years, after which they moved back to Minneapolis.
Lucy had a serious stroke in 2001, but continued to enjoy her family. Lucy filled out a new calendar every year with everyone’s birthdays and many anniversaries, mailing out cards every week to many relatives and friends. There was always a puzzle out on the table which she would be working on.
She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Sharlene Baughman of Big Lake, MN and Nadine Massie of McGregor, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Zona Poulter, Shirley Leonard, Marian Swedo and Marj Retzer.
A funeral service for Lucy will be held on Thursday, February 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Arland Lutheran Church in Arland. A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1 at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday morning. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.
