In Memory of Lois M. Sorensen


April 6, 1927 - January 30, 2024

Lois Mae Sorensen formerly from Balsam Lake, WI passed away peacefully at Lawson Manor in Luck, WI on January 30, 2024. She was 96 years old.

Lois was born April 6, 1927 to Albert and Alice Peterson and was raised on the family farm in Cushing, WI along with her siblings Charles, Dorothy, and Jean. Lois graduated from St Croix Falls High School in 1945. In 1948, Lois married Arnie Sorensen. Lois spent her entire career working at Fidelity State Bank in Dresser, WI. She was an accomplished bookkeeper for Arnie in his tenure at Arnie’s IGA in Milltown, WI. She was an avid seamstress making many clothes for her children. Lois loved to quilt and made quilts for her children and grandchildren. Lois made an appearance on the Twin Cities TV show “Bowlerama” in 1958 and won 1st place and a trophy filled with 150 silver dollars, an electric mixer, and a mattress. She also enjoyed snowmobiling and traveling in their motor home.

Lois is survived by her 3 children, Gary (Diane) Sorensen of Visalia, CA, Peggy Cox (Tom) of Zimmerman, MN, Patsy (Todd) Hansen of Balsam Lake, WI; grandchildren, Heidi (Dustin) Franz of Visalia CA,  Jason Sorensen (Michelle Ross) of Visalia CA, Jamie Cox (Kristy Bebensee) of St. Michael, MN, Dayna (Ed) Waytashek of Zimmerman, MN, Shannon (Brian) Ducklow of Somerset, WI, Cody Korsan of Balsam Lake, WI; 14 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Arnie, parents, Albert and Alice, siblings Charles, Dorothy, and Jean.

There will be a private ceremony for immediate family at a later date.
