In Memory of Lois Cook

February 21, 1935 - September 29, 2020

Lois Marie Cook, 85, of Cumberland passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at her daughter's home in Amery, Wisconsin. A lifelong resident of Cumberland, she was born February 21, 1935 to Clinton and Julia (Jacobson) Whitt. In 1954 she married her husband, Richard and together they made their home in St. Louis Park, MN until returning to Cumberland after they retired.

Lois loved her family, friends, and of course, her raspberries and flowers!! She tried to spend time in her gardens every day; treating neighbors, family and friends to fresh berries and homemade jam.  Lois was very involved with First Lutheran Church. Her faith and service included helping her church and church family (like Esther Circle and Women’s Club), planting spring flowers, quilting and any other activity needing a volunteer. Lois and Dick would spend their winters in Texas where she would find sheets for the backs of the church quilts.  She also enjoyed going to Mexico for shopping, pedicures and even a margarita. Finding those special little trinkets for friends or family would make her day.  Lois was strong, a fighter to the end; until she lost her battle with cancer. Our Father in Heaven received a very special angel that day.

Lois is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters Beverly Alfonse of Amery and Karen (Steven) Frank of West Memphis AR.  Grandchildren: Shannon Alfonse-Steinbuch (Scott), Kyle Alfonse (Jen), and Cole Frank (Sandra). Four great grandsons: Dylan Alfonse, Karter Steinbuch , Nathan Cichon, and Evan Cichon.  In addition to many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clinton and Julia Whitt, son Richard, her brother James Whitt of Cumberland and four sisters: Iva Whitt and Carol Borrman both of Cumberland; June Harvey and Jane Cox both from Cheyenne, WY Services will be at 11:00 Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 1st Lutheran Church in Cumberland with Pastor Tim Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery after the service and there will be a lunch at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland following burial.

Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland is serving the family.
