Linnea Elizabeth Brask was born to Carl and Ruth Anderson in Dassel, MN on August 22,1932. Her birth was at the height of the Great Depression. Times were simple in America then.

Linnea grew up on the family farm. Life was not easy. However, there was always plenty to go around of what mattered most- godly, caring parents, two great siblings (Rose Edin and Wes Anderson), plenty of food, a wonderful church, and lots of relatives and friends to share life together. In these ways, they felt rich!

Linnea graduated from Dassel High School in 1950 as the Valedictorian of her class. In the Fall, she went to St Cloud State College to study to become an elementary school teacher.

Linnea began her teaching career in Rush City, Minnesota from 1952-1955 where she taught 2nd grade for 3 wonderful years. She sure did love all her 2nd graders!

During that time, she met a handsome man from the “Promised Land” across the St.Croix River in WI. He was a young farmer in the Trade Lake area. They fell in love, courted for a year and were married on June 10th,1955. This wonderful marriage brought 4 children into the world: Keith-1956 (Cindy) Diane (1957), Jolene (1960) and Janelle -1964 (Tom). Theresa became part of the Brask family as a foster daughter in 1984.

Linnea loved children and invested in them her whole life. She directed many Christmas and Easter programs at Trade Lake Baptist and served as Dean of Girls at Wood Lake Bible Camp for many years.

The highlight of Linnea’s teaching career was when she became the Director of the Grace Baptist Nursery School in 1975. She retired in the Spring of 2,000 after 25 of the most delightful, impactful years of her life. Without a doubt, she left a legacy in the lives of hundreds of children.

When it became too difficult for Linnea to live on the farm, she moved into assisted living at Shady Knoll in Grantsburg where she was treated like family by Greg Peer and his staff.

The last few years of Mom’s life were spent at the Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg. The Director, Carol Ahlquist, and her staff provided Mom with consistent care and compassion. She loved all of them right back with a heart full of gratitude for all they did. Her only complaint was the food was not nearly as good as her home cooking on the farm. But she forgave them because coffee was always served faithfully which was a consistent highlight of her life!

Linnea made a quick trip to heaven from her hospital bed at Fairview Hospital in Burnsville, MN on Thursday, December 28th, at 11:42am. Her children were with her as she peacefully departed her earthly body.

Linnea is survived by her 4 adult children, 4 dearly loved grandchildren - Matthew, Rachel, Kristine and Andrew, and a host of nieces and nephews who fondly knew her as Aunty Linny. Special recognition needs to go to Kandis Olson for being the most extraordinary niece in the world who loved her Aunty Linny like no other. She is also survived by countless friends who loved her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday. January 2, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg, WI.

The Service to honor Linnea’s life will be held at 2:00 pm at Calvary Covenant Church in Alpha, WI. Pastor Scott Sagle and nephew, Reverend Carl Anderson will be officiating. A light afternoon lunch with beverages and fellowship will follow the service. The burial will be right after the funeral at the Trade Lake Swedish Mission Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Les Olson, Matthew Brask, Bob Rauchbauer, Ryan Rauchbauer, Noah Rauchbauer and Trent Rauchbauer.

Linnea’s entire life was a living testimony of her love for Jesus and the Bible. In light of this, all memorials given will be used for Bibles for the Nations. with Global Seed Planters.
