Lila Sandve, age 92, of Barron, passed away on February 15, 2023 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Chetek, where she resided for the past 22 months following a stroke.

Lila Jeanette was born to Knute and Helen Paulson on August 2, 1930 where she was the youngest of 11 children, of which all siblings preceded her in death.

On September 10, 1949, Lila married Jim Sandve in Barron where they raised their daughter, Lauri and son, Larry.

These years were kept busy camping with friends and relatives, traveling the entire United States, dancing, softball, bowling, and participating in Packer parties. Lila spent much of her career as an administrative assistant for Barron Electric Co-op.

In retirement, Lila did not sit still either, as she was always volunteering, helping a neighbor, walking the Barron blocks, polka dancing, and water aerobics.  She volunteered at the Barron Hospital, Historical Museum, and Cupboard and Closet.

Lila is survived by her daughter, Lauri Engness of Rice Lake; son, Larry (Jackie) Sandve of Hillsdale; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; 10 siblings; and grandchildren, Lara and Nick.

A memorial service for Lila will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Barron. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday morning. Burial will be in the spring at First Lutheran Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
