In Memory of LeRoy J. Meyer
LeRoy James Meyer, age 87, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
LeRoy was born in Clayton, Wisconsin on February 23, 1937, to Charles and Elizabeth (Molls) Meyer. LeRoy married Judy Marie Chisholm on January 21, 1956. After farming in Clayton, LeRoy and Judy moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where LeRoy found a fulfilling career delivering fresh produce for Spizman Fruit while raising their three children, Laura, Terry, and Lynette. After retiring, LeRoy and Judy moved back to Clayton, Wisconsin, where they built their dream home on Moon Lake and hosted many epic 4th of July family gatherings while spending their winters in Texas.
LeRoy is survived by loving daughter Lynette Meyer, granddaughter Rachel Meyer, great grandchildren Makaila and Markus Meyer, sisters Bernice Erickson and Mary (Robert) Hansen, in-laws Nancy (Larry) Henck, Linda Solum, Wendy (Cliff) Olson, and Kate Chisholm, along with so many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
LeRoy is preceded in death by loving wife Judy, daughter Laura, son Terry, Â parents, Charles and Elizabeth, Frank and Agnes Chisholm, brother Raymond, sisters Magaret VanEss, Agnes Caudi, Clara Laukala, and Genevieve Welzle, brother in-laws, Bob Peters, Steve Chisholm, Tom Solum, and Floyd Chisholm.
LeRoy was a proud member of the Teamsters Union and the Moon Lake Threshing Bee where he proudly displayed his collection of 1950 Farmall Tractors which he restored. Leroy was a huge sports fan, especially football. And if you knew LeRoy you better not call during Sundays game, especially if the Packers were playing!
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 23, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1050 Keller Ave N. Amery, WI with Father Jerry Harris officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A private burial will take place at St. Charles Cemetery.
