In Memory of Leo Neuman
Leo Neuman, 96, of Rice Lake passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Cambridge Senior Living.
Leo was born on March 23, 1927, in Shell Lake to the late August and Anna Neuman.
He was a graduate of Shell Lake High School. Leo served his country in the United States Army, spending time in Germany and Switzerland. On October 8, 1949, he married his wife of 63 years, Dawn (Johnson). Leo worked for many years at the Rice Lake Laundry and then for the City of Rice Lake until his retirement. Leo was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rice Lake Moose Lodge. He served as governor of the Moose, enjoyed being a part of the Dart Ball League, and the Friday night fish frys. Spending time with his family was a huge part of Leo’s life. Weekly visits to his homestead, “The Farm,” became a weekly tradition. A day at the beach or on a sledding hill with his kids were common occurrences. Leo enjoyed camping with friends and traveling to see his children in Washington, Hawaii and Alaska.
Leo is survived by his children; Kathy (Mitch) Brannies, Jim (Diane) Neuman, Debbie (Bill) Downes, Nancy (Larry) Dantzman, John (Clarissa) Neuman, Mark (Adel) Neuman, Susan (Aaron) Merchant, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
A private funeral was held for the family. Expressions of sympathy can be made by visiting on Facebook at Jon Tillung. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many healthcare workers at Glenview Assisted Living Center and Cambridge Senior Living for their kindness and care. We’ll miss you Dad / Grandpa. Enjoy your time with our mother, your parents and family. As you always said, “I used to, but I don’t no more.” Now you can.
