In Memory of Lela J. Morris

November 4, 1961 - December 11, 2023

Lela Joy (Olson) Morris was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin on November 4, 1961, living a life of love and service to all who knew her until she lost her hard-fought battle with cancer too soon on December 11, 2023, in Amery, Wisconsin.

During her 62 years, Lela enjoyed many past-times. She could be found fishing, watching a Viking’s game, listening to country music—especially Music on the River in Amery, putting puzzles together, and taking her grandchildren to the Amery Fall Festival events. She was very fond of her red scooter which gave her the freedom to be out and about around town enjoying the sunshine and the fresh air. When she was able, she happily worked in the fast-food industry.

There are many things her family and friends will remember when they think of Lela. Her favorite color was yellow; she was the first person in line to lend a hand when someone was in need; her love of her family and friends knew no bounds; and she was never without a smile on her face.

Lela was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Turner; father, Bert Olson; nephew, David A. Mork; and aunts, Delores (Shorty) Wilson and Jean Wilson.

Left to cherish the memory of this beloved woman are her son, Johnnie (Tina) Morris; brothers, Andrew Olson, Joe (Kathy Savoy) Olson, Keith Elledge and sister, Bonnie (Troy) Mork; aunt, Janie Wilson; and uncles, Donald Wilson and Merlin Wilson. Lela was a very special grandmother to Aidan Vanderbent, Brylynn Morris, Dakota Bricker, Octavia Seline (Adelberto Citalan), Kamden Seline, and great-grandson, Eduardo Citalan. She played a big part in the lives of her nieces and nephews, Tanya (Drew) Schnell, Julie (Tony) Troutz, Lance (Sarina) Hornbostel, Ashley Elledge, and Cory (Chase) Olson; great-niece, Jacey Smith; and great-nephews, David Mork, Junior Smith, Colton Troutz, and Connor Troutz. Among her many friends, she found a special bond with, and enriched the lives of, Dorothy Platson, Ruthie Larsen, Susie Avery, and Jeanette Helling.

Knowing the time was near, Lela requested this account of her life include her final message to her family and friends:

“I love each and every one of you!”

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, Wisconsin.
