In Memory of Larry L. Paulson

May 26, 1938 - June 24, 2024

Larry L. Paulson, age 86, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 surrounded by his family at his home in Barron under the care of Mayo Hospice.
He was born May 26, 1938 to Henry and Blanche (Dean) Paulson in Barron.

He was married on August 27, 1960 to Joyce Jacobson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were married for 59 years.

He tried his hand at farming, but his passion was driving over the road trucks. He started at an early age for Jerome’s and drove for many different companies including Nordquist Trucking and JME in the later years. He and his wife bought a tavern in 1973 in Almena. It started as J & L and ended up as LP’s Place. They owned it 25 out of 30 years. They made many friends that turned into family from their years as bar owners.

For a time, he and Joyce took travel trailers around the country.

Larry enjoyed visiting with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved being “Papa Larry”.

He never went into a place that he didn’t have a friend or if he didn’t, he would make one. He had family at Kwik Trip, Cross Roads, Season’s Café and both Cumberland and Barron Clinics.

Larry is survived by his children, Lanny (Tereasa) Paulson and Lori (Kevin) Cordes; daughter-in-law Valerie Paulson; grandchildren, Lucas Paulson, LaTasha Paulson, Lacy (Bucky) Nelson, Lanae Paulson, Amanda Junkans and Brandon (Racheal) Junkans; great-grandchildren, Lehney, Landon, Layken, Layla Paulson, Bennett Mueller, Hannah, Henry, Opal and Olive Junkans; brothers, Sherman (Germaine) and Pete (Jenny) Paulson; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Lane; grandson, Logan; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
