In Memory of Kurtis G. Olsvig


October 8, 1975 - August 22, 2024

Master Kurtis Garold "Kurt" Olsvig, 48, of Turtle Lake, passed away on August 22, 2024 at Regions Hospital, surrounded by close family.

Kurt was born on October 8th, 1975 at Cumberland hospital to Garold and Carol Olsvig. Kurt attended Turtle Lake High School graduating in 1994. During this time, Kurt earned his Eagle Scout award from Boy Scout Troop 24 in Cumberland. He attended UW-Stout in Menomonie, graduating with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Management and Construction Engineering. He then moved to Minnesota to work for an Engineering company and later moved back to Wisconsin with the birth of his daughter Shella. He continued working in the construction and mining industry, later purchasing his own construction equipment. In his spare time he also enjoyed working on the family farm, mainly doing field work. He also had a love for animals, bringing them home to take care of.

He enjoyed taking trips across the country. He would go to Las Vegas, South Dakota, and Florida. He was also very passionate about cooking. He would create his own recipes and would always be the one behind the grill or in the kitchen at family events.

He was passionate about sports his entire life. He started wrestling which he would compete across the country, enjoyed football later and even competed in MMA. He passed his athletic trait down to his daughter where he enjoyed watching her play as they would also travel across the country for sports. Shella was his pride and joy and everybody knew it.

Kurt was a loving son, brother, father, and uncle and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Shella Olsvig of Clayton; parents, Garold and Carol Olsvig; siblings: Kim (Tom) Wols, Kris (Matt) Torgerson, Karmon (Jimmy) Miers, and Kenton (Trish) Olsvig; six nephews; 5 nieces; many cousins and other relatives and friends. Kurt was preceded in death by his grandparents: Dennis and Florence Doerr, and George and Elizabeth Olsvig.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday August 28, 2024 at the First Lutheran Church in Arland and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral service is 2:00 pm on Thursday August 29, 2024 at First Lutheran Church - Arland with Rev. Timothy Vettrus officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Pallbearers are Steve Naglosky, James Erickson, Jim Josephson, Brian Larson, Steve Moen, and Ryan Hastings.
