In Memory of Kenneth Soltau

January 8, 1947 - February 22, 2019

Kenneth Lee Soltau Sr., 72, of Turtle Lake passed, February 22, 2019 at his home. He was born January 8, 1947 in Cumberland, WI to Irvin and Laura (Strenke) Soltau Sr. and grew up in Comstock, WI.

Ken was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cumberland. He was married in Barron on August 28, 1965 to Shirley Eischen. Later he became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake. Ken valued the visits he received from Rev. Steve Miller and the conversations they had together.

Ken was an avid collector of M&M's collectables, and antiques. It was through his love of going to garage sales that he acquired his many treasures with his buddy, Rod. When he could not be found in his garage building birdhouses and other beautiful wood crafts; Ken was out in the woods, enjoying nature. Deer hunting was very special to him. He often took his children and grandsons out with him to share in the outdoor experiences.

Ken treasured the many memories he shared and made with his family and friends on various adventures. Whether it was going through Yellow Stone with Shirley, New York City with Jackie, Nashville with "Hot" Rod and Dar, a guided elk hunt in Wyoming with David, or in South Dakota with Ken Jr., and grandsons.

He is survived by: his wife, Shirley; his 3 children: Jackie Dwyer (Tracy Peterson), Kenneth Soltau Jr., David Soltau (Ruthmarie Haanen); 5 grandchildren: Ryan (Ashly) Soltau, Joshua Dwyer, Christopher Soltau, Casey Soltau, Jordan Pride; 4 great-grandchildren: Ashton, Jameson, Charlotte, Olivia; brother: Eugene (Wanda) Soltau; sister: Joan Hauck; many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Laura (Strenke) Soltau; brother, Irvin Soltau Jr.; and sister: Irene Benson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake, with Rev. Steve Miller officiating. There will be a one hour  visitation prior to the service.

Skinner Funeral Home of Turtle Lake is serving the family.
