In Memory of Kenneth LeJeune
Kenneth LeJeune Age 98, of Rice Lake, WI, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in Rice Lake.
He was born on December 11, 1924 to Hubert and Mabel (Thorson) LeJeune in Rice Lake, where he was the youngest of 3 children.
He grew up in the Stanfold area where his parents raised sheep and then dairy cows. Kenneth was drafted into the Army and served during WWII from 1944 to 1946 where he was sent to Japan after basic training. He was married to Adeline Willger on September 27, 1948 in Haugen, WI, where they farmed for 8 years, before moving to the Section 10 area in Cumberland where they purchased a farm. Kenneth also sold seed corn for Cargill, worked for the Barron agriculture office taking soil samples of farmers’ fields to be sent in to be analyzed. In 1972 they sold the farm and purchased a small farm where he grew beans and peas for Stokleys - now Seneca. He was also a school bus driver for the Cumberland schools from 1972 to 2009. In 2009 Kenneth and Adeline moved to Rice Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Adeline; 4 children, son Michael (Karen); daughters Carolyn (Myron) Anderson, Dorothy (Chuck) Dorey and Vicki (Wally) Anderson; 5 grandchildren, Peter LeJeune, Kelly (Dan) Mawer, Daryl (Danelle) Anderson, Eric (Katie) Roux and Diana (Charlie) Rohlik; 11 great grandchildren, Zoe, Sam, Eleanor, Camille, Apollo, Armani, Asher, Brennan, Mckenna, Nolan and Amelia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Mabel LeJeune; a sister Elaine Puhl and a brother Glen LeJeune.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brentwood Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for their patience, kindness and compassion shown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie, WI, Father Joseph Kumar officiating, with interment in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI where Military Rites will be accorded him by the Rice Lake Veteran Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 930-11AM Wednesday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to The Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled American Veterans.
