Kathy (Root) Armstrong, 72, of Charleston, SC passed away in her sleep the evening of Oct 22nd, 2022.

Kathy was born on August 19th, 1950, to Lin and Elnora Root of Frederic, WI.

She grew up on her family’s dairy farm in Indian Creek. After graduating from high school in 1968, she joined the Navy for 3 years. Kathy was stationed at the Naval Base in San Diego where she met her husband, Terry Armstrong. They were married Feb 27th, 1971, and moved to Concord, CA where they had their first two children. They moved to Frederic, WI in 1980 and had two more children. Kathy had also become a foster parent for 22 years to many children. After her divorce in 2002, she moved to Charleston, SC. She got a job at the Embassy Suites hotel, where she quickly became indispensable and the unofficial work mom to many of the staff. She was often referred to as “The Legend in Heels”. She spent a lot of those years traveling with her friends from the Navy she stayed connected with. She dedicated her life to helping others and was a great mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She will be greatly missed

Kathy was predeceased by her father and mother.

She is survived by her siblings: Cindy Gardner, Mary Engdahl, Dianne Root, Lin Root, Terry Root, Larry Root, Kevin Root; children: Barrett Armstrong, Lacy Butzler, Christina Madden, Nicholas Armstrong, and her grandchildren: Logan Armstrong, Brock Butzler, Keira Butzler, Kaylee Armstrong, Alexia Armstrong, Emma Armstrong, Reed Armstrong, Autumn Armstrong, Savannah Madden, Abigail Madden and Piper Madden.
