In Memory of Kathleen M. McGrorty
On August 31st, Kathy (Draus) McGrorty of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at the age of 80.
Kathy was born to Peter and Eleanore Draus in Weyerhaeuser Wisconsin on April 25th, 1943. She grew up on the family farm with sister Janet and brother David. Kathy graduated from Weyerhaeuser High School in 1961. On May 25th, 1963, she married Wilbur McGrorty, the love of her life, and was blessed with two children, Victor and Kelly.
Kathy's career started early with positions at Sears, Linden Hills Bakery and Edina Care Center. Kathy helped create three businesses with Wilbur which include Big Diamond DX gas station in Edina Minnesota, McGrorty's Auction Service in St Croix Falls and River Rats Discount Store, also in St Croix Falls. Kathy enjoyed working with the public and seeing her regular customers every day.
Kathy's hobbies throughout her life included making Perogies, golf, Polka music, Game shows, love of animals, and a trip to the Casino now and then! Her greatest accomplishments in life were helping Wilbur through 50 years of sobriety, creating many successful businesses and spending time with her wonderful family.
Kathy is survived by her husband Wilbur, children Victor and Kelly, grandchildren Andrew, Collin, Cory, Grace, great-grandchildren Frankie, Josie, Ellie, Emmie, Finnigan, Brother David and best friend Irish (her golden retiever buddy!).
A private family service will be held. Funeral arrangements were entrusted with Grandstrand Funeral Homes. Condolences can be left at www.grandstrandfh.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the family
