In Memory of Karen Schutz


October 13, 1952 - September 30, 2021

Karen Schutz, age 68, a resident of the Town of Chicog, died on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, with family at her side.

Karen was born on October 13, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to parents Raymond and Laura (Scripture) Lemke.

She attended and graduated Anoka High School in 1971. After high school, she continued her education and became a trained nurse, and Medical/Surgical Technician. On December 10, 1977, she was united in marriage to Neil Schutz in Princeton, Minnesota. She worked in the Cities/Princeton area until 1985, when the family moved to their home in the Town of Chicog, where they had previously vacationed. Karen became a certified firefighter for the Town of Chicog and enjoyed CB radios, was an avid reader, singing, birdwatching, fishing, and just being in the outdoors.

Karen is survived by her husband, Neil; daughters:  Casey (Mike Jones) Lemke of Trego, Melissa (Joseph) Schutz of Trego, Nettie (James) Titel of Mason, WI; 9 grandchildren: Ryan, Chase, Chris, Samantha, Noah, Austin, Thomas, Daniel, Mason; 2 great-grandchildren: Payton and Ayden; 2 brothers; 5 sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

A graveside service for Karen Schutz will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at the Chicog Cemetery. A Celebration gathering of Karen’s family and friends will follow at the Chicog Town Hall from noon until 3:00 p.m.
