In Memory of Karen M. Homer
Karen Homer, 71, of Barron, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center in Rice Lake.
Karen was born October 30, 1951, in Rice Lake to William and Evelyn (Kunesh) Stodola.
She lived in Haugen through grade school and graduated from Rice Lake High School.
She married Rodney Homer on April 14, 1973. They enjoyed long-distance motorcycle trips, travelling, and going to the Minnesota State Fair.
They later welcomed two daughters, Brittany and Ashley. Karen enjoyed watching her daughters in community theater, helping with 4-H activities, and watching her daughters’ high school sports.
A highlight of her life was her four grandchildren: Eden, Cami, Jeremiah, and Silas. She couldn’t resist buying them any cute outfits she came across.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Barron. In her leisure time, she enjoyed baking, reading, sewing, and being with her grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Rodney; her children, Brittany Homer (Jason Kisting) and Ashley (Daniel) Mathew; grandchildren; siblings, Janet (Dick) Nelson, Darlene (Clayton) Marshall, Roger (Kathy) Stodola, and Bette (David) Sorenson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Barron. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.
