October 31, 1951  -  April 23, 2018

Junior Robert Bronkema passed away peacefully at St. Mary's-Essentia in Duluth, Minnesota, on April 23, 2018, following a three-month struggle with his health.

Junior was born to Knute and Lydia (Loresch) Bronkema on October 31, 1951. He was developmentally disabled and faced daunting challenges throughout his 66 years, but he was "undaunted" in spreading laughter, smiles and hugs, and some challenges to his family, caregivers, and housemates at Oakview Adult Family Home in Spooner. He loved to be around people and frequently could be seen introducing himself to fellow diners and shoppers in the Spooner area.

Junior loved fishing, country music, and watching bears, deer and turkeys in the nearby fields. He was fascinated by cars and tractors and owned many remote controlled vehicles. His Halloween birthday provided a perfect opportunity to dress in costume and party hearty,

Junior was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Mary (Clyde) Sisler of Conway, Arkansas, and Ella (Lloyd) Herman of Milwaukee. He is survived by his sister Shirley (Elles) Carlson of Barron, brothers Eugene Bronkema of New Hope, Minnesota, and Michael "Jake" (Kathy) Bronkema of Duluth, Minnesota.

Junior's memory will live on with many who loved and cared for him and called him "Junebug."

A Memorial Service for Junior will be held at 11:00 am at the Spooner Funeral Home in Spooner, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.  Pastor Jack Starr will be officiating.  Interment at the Spooner Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery will follow the service.
