June 23, 1933 - March 7, 2023

June A. Thomas, age 89, a resident of Grantsburg, Wisconsin, passed away on March 7, 2023 at Burnett Continuing Care Center.

June was born on June 23, 1933 in Amery, Wisconsin to parents Andrew and Esther Yourchuck.

June went to school from 1st to 8th grade in Siren, Wisconsin. June graduated from Mount Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California. June continued her education at the College of the Redwoods for 2 years before attending culinary school for 3 years.

June married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Francis Thomas, in Carson City, Nevada on December 15, 1954. She and Bob owned the Pinecone Restaurant, located in Point Reyes Station, California, for over 10 years.

In 1983 the couple moved back to Siren where June worked at Capeside Cove and Indianhead. June was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary. She served as the Auxiliary President for the 12th District from 2003 to 2005.

In June’s spare time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting, and reading good books.

June is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob; parents, Andrew and Esther; and sister, Carol Anderson.

She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Delores Ray, Lois Daye, and Beverly McNair; brothers, Ronald (Cindy) and Joseph (JoAnn) Yourchuck; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.

The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM) at St. John’s Catholic Church in Webster, Wisconsin with Father Francis Adoboli officiating. Pallbearers will be Nickolas Collins, Craig Highstrom, Virgil and McCoy Maslow, Lonnie Ray, and Joseph Yourchuck.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home.
