A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, June Ann Haas, died on Saturday, February 3rd, 2023 at 71 years old.

June Swanson was born in Red Wing, MN on September 3rd, 1951, to Ray and Geraldine Swanson.

She grew up on a farm just outside of Red Wing and was known for running late for the school bus, her love of horses, and a big, hearty laugh. At 16, she met John Haas, the cute basketball player from Goodhue, MN who she later took to her high school prom. June moved to St Paul, MN to pursue her Associates of Nursing from St Mary’s. John and June married on September 11th, 1971 and moved to Frederic for John to work at Luck Manufacturing in 1972. They’ve lived in the community since raising 6 children, gaining them the family name of ‘The Eight Js.’

June’s faith was her foundation, with her approach to parenting focused on the scripture verse ‘Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.’ Her life was a testament to this verse while caring for the elderly at Frederic Nursing Home and Sophie’s Manor as a nurse and raising her six children. She cared deeply for others, especially in their time of need, providing nursing care and even giving palliative care to many people in her life. As a community member, she was known for her empathy, listening ear, and still, that big laugh.

She leaves a legacy of loyalty and care in her 6 children and 13 grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 51 years, John, their children, Jacob (Rebecca), Jason (Sara), Joy (Noah), Joshua (Ase Birgitte), Joanna (Lucasz) and Julia (Timothy) and grandchildren, Michael, Henry, Olivia, Isaac, Christian, Tytus, Luis, Samuel, Isaiah, Cruz, Ezekiel, Miles and Anna Elise.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Wood River Fellowship starting at 10:00 am with funeral to follow at 11:00 am.
