In Memory of Julie M. Floan
Julie Marie Floan, age 63, passed peacefully and went to her eternal home on April 26, 2023 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
Julie was born on September 8, 1959 in Rice Lake to Walfred and Florence (Bryngelson) Mickelson.
She was raised on the family farm in Sarona. Later in her childhood, her mother and father relocated to the Arland area, where she then attended Barron High School.
After high school, Julie traveled to many states including Missouri to visit her sister Jean. When she decided to move back to Wisconsin, she planted her roots in Barron, and worked for Jerome Foods.
She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling and dancing. During one of her outings is when she met the love of her life, Terry Floan. They were married on August 11, 1984, at the First Lutheran Church in Barron. They had relocated to the Arland area and there they had built their home together, raising their two daughters.
Julie had many hobbies that kept her busy, but her favorite was having her large garden. She enjoyed watching it grow, canning, and picking wild raspberries to make jelly. She enjoyed many summer days going fishing, attending Polka Festivals, agate picking on the dirt road she lived on, and listening to her music. In the last few years, Julie enjoyed watching the birds, feeding the neighborhood cats, and spending her time with loved ones.
Surviving are her husband, Terry Floan of Barron; daughters, Shanna Floan of Cumberland and Renee (Shawn) Tiegs of Rice Lake; grandchildren, Lexy Smith, Allison Smith, Cloie Tri and Zak Olson; sisters, Jean (Ted) Workman of Prairie Farm and Karen (John) Ruscito of Kissimmee, FL; brother, Richard Mickelson of Rockford, IL, sister-in-law, Julie Mickelson of Ladysmith; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Verna Mickelson, Marlene Ringer and Marian Schmitz; brothers, Steven "Butch" Mickelson and Wilfred "Billy" Mickelson.
