Judy LaPorte, age 73, a resident of Spooner, died on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Spooner Health in Spooner.

Judy was born on January 15, 1949, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin to parents Frederic and Delores (Means) Lauterbach.

She attended school in Spooner and graduated from Spooner High School in 1967. On February 15, 1969, she was united in marriage to David LaPorte at the Spooner United Methodist Church. Judy would spend her working career working for over 25 years at the Washburn County Title and Abstract office in Spooner. Judy was active in the Spooner Women’s Bowling Association, served as their secretary/treasurer for over 25 years, and was also very instrumental in the development of the Junior Youth bowling program in the area. Judy enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino and most of all, loved spending time with family and friends.

Judy is survived by her sons David (Megan) LaPorte of Lake Hallie, WI, Christopher (Angela) LaPorte of Shell Lake, WI, granddaughters Alexis and Madison LaPorte, sister Joy Lauterbach of Shoreview, MN, and brother Jim (Patsy) Lauterbach of Eau Claire, WI.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents and husband David.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 2-5pm, at the Spooner Funeral Home. A private interment will be held in the spring at the Spooner Veterans Memorial Cemetery next to her husband David.
