Judith Beth (Georgick) Haaversen (1943-2023) Judith, who everyone knew as Judy or Jude, was best known for her smile, laugh, and great sense of humor.

Judith Beth Haaversen, age 80, died in Rice Lake, Wisconsin on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

She was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1943 to Stanley and Lillian (Solinski) Georgick and raised in Park Ridge, Illinois. Judy loved reminiscing about growing up with a large extended family and paternal grandparents who spoke Polish. One of her favorite memories was when her parents took her and brother, Bob, on a road trip far from her city life to visit National parks. Judy graduated from Maine Township High School East in 1961 and was very proud that she attended the same high school as actor Harrison Ford. After high school she worked as a secretary and married Robert O’Hara in 1967. In 1968 she and her husband moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and daughters Susan and Janis were born in 1970 and 1972. Judy’s first marriage ended, and she married Robert Haaversen in 1978. Wanting to be closer to her maternal family, she and her husband; along with the two girls, moved to Spooner, Wisconsin in 1980 where she lived for the next 39 years. Judy spent her career working at the administrative office for Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College and working at the many small businesses she and her husband had over the years. She and her husband are best remembered for making candy at Oh Fudge! In the late 80’s, but her WITC fellow employees likely remember her best for her holiday costumes. Favorite activities she enjoyed were flower gardening, feeding birds, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a passionate advocate for others and a warm and loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She had the greenest thumb and filled her house with plants and cuttings, spending hours happily tending to them. Judy and her husband, Bob, moved to Rice Lake, Wisconsin in the fall of 2019 due to health reasons. Bob passed away in January 2020 and Judy moved into Our House Memory Care in Rice Lake. As Judy’s Alzheimer’s disease progressed and many things changed; the constant was her bubbly personality and warm smile.

Judy is survived by her daughters Susan (John) Gosz of Lake Elsinore, California, and Janis (Brad) Volker of Rice Lake; stepchildren Kellie (Joe) Gillespie of Chandler, Arizona, Kathleen Haaversen of Ridgefield, Connecticut, and Kris (Sophia) Haaversen of Portugal; grandsons Alex Gosz of Lake Elsinore, California and Riley Bridges of Huntsville, Alabama; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; nephew Robert (Kristy) Georgick of Iowa; sister-in-law Verna (Roy) Levack of Renton, Washington; brother-in-law Alf (Caroline) Haaversen of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania; first husband Robert (Diane) O’Hara of Orlando, Florida, and beloved dog Annabelle (Annie) of Rice Lake. Judy was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Lillian Georgick, brother Robert Georgick, sister-in-law Judith Georgick, father-in-law Alf Haaversen, mother-in-law Faith Haaversen; and life-long friends John and Djoni Murphy.
