In Memory of Joseph H. Sack


March 17, 1926 - April 17, 2024

Joseph Henry Sack entered into eternal life on Thursday, April 17, 2024, at the young age of 98 surrounded by his family. Joseph was born to Joseph and Susan Sack in Webster, South Dakota on March 17, 1926.

Joe served in the United States Army from November 15,1944 until August 6,1946. Joe was stationed in the Pacific Theater during this time. He received many medals during WWII, the Victory medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Bronze Battle Star medal, Philippine Liberation ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal of Japan and a Good Conduct Medal.

Joe was a talented worker in several professions. Most notable for managing his parents business, Tony's Night Club in St. Paul, plus owning two bar establishments. He was employed as a union block tender at Local #563. He enjoyed remodeling and flipping homes.

Joe married Joy Heaverland in St. Paul in 1955. They had two children, David & Carol. He later married Pat Osterman in 1961. They had one son, Daniel.

Joe spent winters in Fort Myers, FL from 1998-2011. He was neighbors with his brother, Ray (Karen), sister, Caroline (Bill), and many friends.

Joe is survived by his siblings; John, Gertie & Ray, children, David Sack (Deb), Carol Borman (Mike) & Daniel Sack; stepchildren, Mike Osterman (Lou) & Nancy Osterman; his devoted niece, Cindy Kotval; ten grandchildren; many great grand children and many nieces and nephews.

Joe has been reunited in heaven with his parents; Joseph and Susan Sack; sisters, Margaret Sack, Dorothy Kuehn, Ann Legonsky and Caroline Fosse, grandson Dominic Osterman.

A memorial service for Joe will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10-11 AM) at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg, WI., with Pastor John Addison officiating. A luncheon will be held at T-Dawg's Bar & Grill immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Legion Post 0051, Pine City, MN or The Gary Sinese Foundation. Joe's family will be sure they are dispersed accordingly.
