In Memory of John Stelsel
John Anthony Stelsel, age 70, of Dairyland, passed away on October 23, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth, MN.
John was born April 23, 1951 in Baldwin, WI. to parents Anthony and Evelyn Stelsel.
John graduated from Hammond High School in 1969. In 1973 he moved to Dairyland. On June 15, 1947 John was united in marriage to Kay Arendt and they lived in Dairyland for 47 years.
John worked in the building industry for approximately 42 years. He started out working construction for his father-in-law and soon after went to work for Proffit Lumber. After spending many years there, he joined Cashco Building Supplies in Webster. When Angela and Tony were done with school, he decided to take on a sales job for K-Wood Truss which turned into an over the road sales job for Wausau Supply where he covered northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. He loved going in and visiting with all the lumber yard staff and teaching contractors how to install cement siding. When he was ready to get off the road, he ended his career working for Arrow Building Center and finally Northwoods Lumber before retiring in 2015. After retirement John enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandsons and any kind of trouble they could find to get into. They were the highlights of his life.
Preceding him in death are his parents; father-in -law, Ed Arendt; mother-in-law, Irma Arendt; brothers-in-law, Randy Arendt, Larry Walen and Donald Erickson.
John is survived by his wife, Kay; daughter, Angela (John Peterson) Van Guilder; son, Tony (Tiffany) Stelsel; grandsons, Randal and Ryker Stelsel; sister, Joyce Walen; brother-in-law, Doug Arendt; sister-in -law, Bea Erickson; nieces and nephews; and many relatives and friends.
A funeral visitation will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM (Visitation from 10-11 AM) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster. Interment will take place at 1:00 PM at River Hill Cemetery in Dairyland Township, WI.
Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
