In Memory of John S. Adams


August 24, 1945 - February 2, 2023

John Steven Adams passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the United Pioneer Home in Luck, Wisconsin at the age of 77.

John was born to Raymond and Minnie Adams in Amery, Wisconsin in 1945.

He grew up in Luck, Wisconsin where he enjoyed exploring the nearby woods, hunting with his dad and uncles, and fishing on Bone Lake. John graduated from Luck High School in 1963. He then went on to study art at UW Superior and later served in the U.S. Army from 1965-67. As an expert marksman, John trained recruits in how to shoot a rifle and handle firearms and ammunition.

In 1967 John married Colleen Olson, and continued his education at The Saint Paul School of Art where he received an Associate Degree in Commercial Art. He built a home in Wolf Creek Wisconsin and had two daughters Jamie and Josie. John was a Commercial Artist for Berg-Torseth and Modernistic screen printing companies in St. Paul, MN. His logo designs were made into large-scale decals for major businesses such as Cenex, Cemstone, Cub Foods and Schwann’s. He received national awards for his Toro and Norco truck designs. In retirement John spent his time working on his cabin, fishing for muskies and hunting at deer camp with his buddies.

John is survived by his daughters Jamie Steffen (Mike), Josie Grimes (Pat), and grandchildren Cole, Chase, Copelan and Wren; sister Julie Adams and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and his sister Janet Peterson.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Wilkins Resort on Bone Lake (1091 238th Ave, Luck, WI 54853). Friends and family are welcome.
