In Memory of John O. Lee
John O. Lee of Osceola, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday morning October 15, 2023 at the age 76 at the Christian Community Home in Osceola.
Born in Grand Forks Deaconess Hospital on December 16, 1946 to F. Sanford Lee and Elizabeth (Matheson) Lee. John graduated from Larimore North Dakota High School in 1964. He enlisted in the Army in April 1966 and served in the Vietnam War. John served in the 9th Infantry as a PFC 4 primarily in the Mekong Delta region. He earned a Purple Heart in military combat and was honorably discharged January 6, 1969.
He met and married Janice Haga July 24, 1969. John worked as project rep for SEH Engineering for over 25 years. John and Janice raised their two sons, Mark and Mike, in Forest Lake, Minnesota until they moved to Osceola in 1996. John enjoyed musky fishing, pheasant and duck hunting. He was always a good person to talk politics with over coffee. John did his civil service as a member of the Columbus Township Park board and serving many terms on the Columbus Town Board.
His pride and joy were his grandkids; Abbie, Garrett, Brianna and Logan. John is survived by his sons Mark (Susie) and Mike (Amy); grandchildren Abbie (Joel), Garrett, Brianna and Logan; his sisters, Mary Godsey and Sandra Hendrickson and many in laws, nieces and cousins. John is preceded in death by his wife Janice (Haga), parents, brother David Lee, brother's in law Harry Godsey (Mary), George Hendrickson (Sandra).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church in Dresser. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Interment will follow the service at 2:00 p.m. at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.
