In Memory of John L. Lillie
John Louis Lillie, age 92, of Cumberland passed away on August 15, 2023 at Care and Rehab-Cumberland.
He was born December 8, 1930 in Cumberland, WI to John George and Ethel Mabel Caroline (Bisher) Lillie.
Of all his accomplishments, John was most proud of his service in the US Army during the Korean War. He was later awarded the Purple Heart.
Later in life, he spent 30 years serving his passion as trail master for the Island City Snowmobile Club. Other favorite pass times included fishing, hunting and trap shooting, and of course, living up to his nickname of "the dancing machine".
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, of 59 years, Anita; son, Terry (Debbie) Olson of New Berlin, WI; grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Jessica, and Melissa; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Nancy Haugen, Patricia Workman, Carol Hause; stepbrothers, Tommy Lillie and Danny Lillie; stepsisters, Marlene Lamkins and Sandy Miller; as well as many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Winter Howard; parents, John and Mabel Lillie; and siblings, Betty Ricci, Fred Lillie, Richard Lillie and Gerald Lillie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday August 21, 2023 at Skinner Funeral Home Cumberland with Pastor Kenneth Mandley officiating. Interment and military honors at Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Luncheon at Skinner Funeral Home will follow the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cumberland American Legion Post 98, or St. Anthony's Catholic Women.
