In Memory of John L. Hartwig
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John "Jack" Hartwig, who lost his battle with cancer on April 25, 2024. He was born on September 18, 1957, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, grew up in Ashland, and lived in the Spooner/Minong area for most of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Dory Hartwig, his sister Jill Hartwig, and his daughter Heather Hartwig.
Jack is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in camping and fishing, appreciating nature's quiet beauty. His garage was his playground, where he tinkered and fixed just about anything. His family and friends will always remember his sarcastic sense of humor, which would always make you groan (but put a smile on your face!).
Jack is survived by his wife Cheryl Hartwig, his son Todd Hartwig, and his son Tony Hartwig (wife Emily) and grandson Nathan. He is also survived by Cheryl's children and grandchildren as well as his brother-in-law Leslie Best and niece Maelea Marten.
It was his wish not to have a public ceremony. Rather, reminisce about the memories you have of Jack and appreciate the family and friends you have/had in your life. Any memorials can be made to Cheryl Hartwig to help assist with final expenses. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him!
