John James Roat, 68, of Sarona, WI, formally of Oak Lawn, IL passed away, April 15, 2023, at Barron Care & Rehab.

He was born August 7, 1954, in Chicago, IL to Richard and Geraldine (Buzz) Roat. He was married in Worth, IL on June 19, 1987, to Annette Elder.

John loved to vacation in Florida while wearing the loudest possible colors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. John could always be found at Klopps during Happy Hour laughing and razzing with the owner Shannon. John, Dick, and Terry commonly referred to as ‘The Three Stooges’ always had each others’ back no matter what life threw at them.

He was quite a character and will be remembered fondly. John made a point to always be there for his daughter. He loved being a father not only to Courtney (his BooBoo who he always reminded that he loved her to the moon and back) but also to her friends; offering them life advice and support.

He is survived by his daughter, Courtney Roat; wife, Annette Roat; brothers: Richard “Dick” (Mary Dodge-Roat) Roat Jr., and Terrence “Terry” (Linda Woestman) Roat; nieces, nephews, and many other dear family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Geri Roat.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 PM Wednesday April 19, 2023, at Skinner Funeral Home in Shell Lake with Father Phil Juza officiating. Visitation will be from 4 PM - 6:30 PM

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 PM Friday April 21, 2023, at Schmaedeke Funeral Home - Worth, IL. Visitation will be from 4 PM - 6:30 PM.

Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, FL.
