In Memory of John Hunter
John (Jack) Harrison Hunter was born on January 12, 1935 to Rebecca and Harry Hunter in Coomer, WI. He grew up on the family farm, the youngest of 5 brothers, and graduated from the Siren School. He started his working career by driving truck for Spangbergs. He then worked for the Burnett County Sheriff’s department as a deputy and worked for the Village of Siren until his retirement.
He married Charlene Bergstrom in 1956, and to this union, 4 children were born. They later divorced, and Jack married Patricia Potempa in 1992.
Jack lived a good life. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He loved telling stories to anyone who would listen. He always carried a pocket full of quarters to give to his grandkids in exchange for kisses. Jacks strong spirt will live in the hearts of all who loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Ted (Tammy) Hunter, Dan (Linda) Hunter; daughters, Valerie Hunter, Marilyn (Tim) Grefsrud; stepson, Tony Potempa; son in law, Rod Erickson; sister-in-law, Donna Hunter; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many dear friends.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernie, Dan, Larry, Ray, Dale; grandson, Bradley; and father-in-law, Dominic Daniels.
His funeral will take place at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster on February 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM). Interment will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery in Siren.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Lung Association in Jacks name.
To help stop the spread of Covid, masks are preferred.
