In Memory of Jody E. Brittain
Jody Elaine Solum Brittain of Johnstown Colorado, age 64, passed away on December 5, 2024. She was surrounded by her family at UCHealth Hospital in Loveland, Colorado as she died of septic shock with complications.
Jody was born to Duane (Bill) and Elaine Solum on May 13, 1960, in Amery, Wisconsin. She grew up on the Solum family dairy farm near Deer Park, Wisconsin.
In her early years, being a farm girl, she helped with endless barn chores and field work. This included walking the fields picking rock, which was oddly enough one of her favorite chores. She was active in 4-H and loved working with Holsteins in preparation for the county fair. She played the flute in the high school band and marched in many local parades. Jody also excelled in basketball and track.
After Jody graduated from Amery High School in 1978, she continued her education at UW-Eau Claire for 3 years before moving to Denver. She worked as a sales associate for various companies in Colorado and the surrounding states.
In 1998, she married Edward Brittain and lived in Golden, Colorado for many years. Together they owned a successful print and frame business, selling their artwork locally and traveling the country doing exhibits at home show expos. She assisted Ed with his home construction business (along with a few other entrepreneurial businesses throughout the years) whether he liked it or not. In her spare time, Jody enjoyed making bead jewelry, antiquing, and traveling. She was especially known for the many unique parties that she hosted at their Golden home.
Jody was preceded in death by her father, Duane Solum; ex-husband, Edward Brittain; and nephew, Ryan Solum.
Jody is survived by her mother, Elaine Solum of Deer Park; brother, Kevin (Roxann) Solum of Osceola; sisters, Janet (Duke) Krueger of Deer Park and Karen (Matt) Byrne of Westminster CO; nieces, Kristin (Jake) Quist and Shannon (Peter) Doro; nephew, Luke Krueger; friend, Mike Pietrzak; and life-long friend, Bill Cardinal. Jody will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
