In Memory of Joan E. Gear

October 4, 1946 - October 28, 2023

Joan Elaine Gear, age 77, of Osceola, WI, passed away peacefully with her devoted husband Ed by her side after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease on Saturday, October 28th, 2023.

Although she was born in Osceola, WI, Joan grew up in East Farmington. After graduating from Osceola HS in 1964, she married Ed and moved to Osceola. They remained lifelong residents and were married for 56 years. Joan worked for 35 years at The RiverBank. She loved her job as a teller and staying connected to everyone in town. She was also a faithful lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Joan had a variety of interests, but, most importantly, she loved to laugh and to talk with loved ones. She enjoyed travelling to warm, sunny places and was an avid shopper. Shopping trips were likely to include a sweet treat such as M&M’s, DQ Blizzards, or Junior Mints. Baking was also a hobby she enjoyed, especially with her grandchildren. Joan’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved bowling and golfing, often playing many local courses with family and friends. Every summer, she volunteered at the annual children’s golf camp. Joan always surrounded herself with those she loved.

Joan is survived by husband, Edward; sister Yvonne (Lewis) Ingram; brother Donald (Andrea) Rud; daughters, Dannette and Tammy (Bryan); and grandchildren: Joshua, Dylan (Valencia), and Sarah.

Joan is preceded in death by mother, Ethel Schmidt Rud; father, Paul Rud; brother, John (Barbara) Rud; nephews, Scott Ingram and Justin Rud; and Dannette’s partner, Ken Silvey.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, with the visitation beginning at 1 P.M. This celebration will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in East Farmington, WI.

In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Zion Lutheran Church in East Farmington, WI.
