In Memory of Jim A. Humphrey, Sr.
Jim Allen Humphrey, Sr., age 74 of Barron, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 6, 2023 in Eau Claire.
Jim was born March 9th, 1949 in Amery, to James & Geraldine (Pabst) Humphrey.
He graduated from Turtle Lake High school in 1967, winning many awards and championships as a wrestler.
On October 10, 1970, he married the love of his life, Pamela (Yule) in Turtle Lake. Together they owned the Montgomery Wards store in Barron. After selling the store, he then went on to school to become a police officer serving for both Red Wing, MN and Rice Lake, WI police departments. He retired in 2013 after working for nearly 27 years for A-1 Homes in Rice Lake.
For many years Jim had a love of gardening and making his yard picture perfect. He owned many classic cars over the years and enjoyed showing them off at local car shows. He took a lot of pride in the vehicles he owned, especially his red Dodge Ram truck. He was known for telling stories about the mischief he caused back in the day and could light up a room with his smile.
Jim was happiest when with his children and grandchildren and made sure everyone knew they were his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Jim is survived by his children, sons, Jason (Tammy) Humphrey and Jimmy, Jr. (Heather) Humphrey, both of Cameron; daughter Amanda (Jason) Perry of Chetek; very loved grandchildren, Alexa, Caitlyn, Gabe, Kaylee, Jonathan (Chris), Kylie (Logan), Colten, Parker, Jaxon, James, and Jenna, and a great-grandchild on the way; brothers Jerry (JoAnn) Humphrey, Jody Humphrey, Bobby (Billie Jo) Humphrey; and a sister, Diane (Gary) Cardinal.
Jim is reunited with his beloved wife, Pamela; parents, Jim & Shorty Humphrey; grandparents, Clarence & Ora Pabst and Charles and Minnie Humphrey.
A funeral service for Jim will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Barron with Pastor Ron Mathews officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday morning.
Burial will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron immediately following the service.
Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
