In Memory of Jessica K. Balog

September 10, 1978 - August 21, 2022

Jessica Kaye Balog, 43 of Amery, WI passed away peacefully Sunday, August 21, 2022 at SMS Health Center in Baraboo, WI while vacationing in Wisconsin Dells.

She was born September 10, 1978 in Cumberland, WI to Michael and Monica Grosskreutz of Clayton, WI. She was married at Turtle Creek Glen on October 5, 2007 to the love of her life, Bryan Balog of Turtle Lake, WI.

Jess graduated from Clayton High School in 1997. She worked various jobs such as Hartzell Manufacturing, Barron County Humane Society, St. Croix Casino and Cheers. She then furthered her education by earning a medical records degree at Barron County Campus. She worked at Amery Hospital and Clinic working to become the Supervisor of the Health Information Management Unit until her illness forced her into early retirement. Even though she held this title, her most cherished title was that of wife and MOTHER! Her husband and girls were her whole world.

Her hobbies included her love for animals including a very special horse named Neisha, gardening and canning/freezing veggies from her garden, painting, cooking, and doing various crafts with her girls and friends. She also loved to travel and spend time with family and friends - just hanging out.

She will be remembered for her love of her family and friends, her smile, her humor, as she could bring a smile into every room she entered or every conversation she was part of. Also, her willingness to help everyone. She was kind, smart, and courageous. She taught her girls to be just the same. She gave them the confidence that they could conquer the world if they wanted to. She loved God and trusted that his plan for her life was the best plan. She was a fighter. She never ever gave up on anything just like she never quit fighting this awful disease of cancer. She never gave up and her last days spending time with her family at The Dells was a testimony to that. She was the kind of person that brought out the best in others, and we are all better people from knowing her. She will be missed by so many.

She was preceded in death by her Great Granny Rose Chalman, who she always played the nickel game with. Also her grandparents, Lyle and Shirley Grosskreutz and Harold (Fuzzy) and Gloria Becker.

She is survived by her husband, Bryan and daughters, Ava and Asha. Grandmother, Shirley Balog of Amery, WI. Parents, Michael and Monica Grosskreutz of Clayton, WI; Father-in-law, Randy Balog of Clear Lake, WI; Mother-in-law and step father-in-law, Brenda and Fred Mikels of Townsend, WI; brothers, Jeremy (Angie) Grosskreutz of Clayton, WI and Josh Grosskreutz of Grand Forks, ND; brother-in-law, Brent (Annie) Balog of Zimmerman, MN., sister-in-law, Becky Balog of Amery, WI along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends/co-workers.

A Celebration of Life for Jessica will be held September 18th at the Turtle Lake Park from 1-4 PM. Come and enjoy food and share stories and remembrances of her life.

Skinner Funeral Home of Turtle Lake is serving the family.
