In Memory of Jerilyn R. Jackson

May 22, 1944 - November 5, 2022

Jerilyn R. Jackson, age 28, of Minneapolis, MN, died Saturday, November 5, 2022.

Jerilyn Rose Jackson was born May 22, 1994, in Eau Claire, WI, the daughter of Jerilyn Holden and Gerald Jackson.

The circle of life never stops. It’s with great sadness I received the news of Nii-Weh-enh/My Namesake, Missy Jackson’s passing. We knew it was coming and I will be forever grateful that her mom, Jerilyn, so graciously and generously allowed so many of us time to spend with Missy sharing with her how much she’s meant to us and to say giigawabamin/good-bye. From the moment I first met Missy I was impressed by her determination to make her life and the world a better place. She was a natural born leader and had a way of making things happen. She was on fire for Wellbriety & Recovery, Motherhood, Social Change, Ceremony, furthering her education and the healing of jingle dress dancing. Such a bright light she was! My sadness comes from seeing the evil in the world get it’s hold on her, but I refuse to let all that get in the way of how I will remember her. I will always remember her true spirit and beautiful soul, that I, and so many others knew, when I’m thinking of her. I commit to never stopping the fight against the spirit of addiction and all those who victimize our people, especially our women. My love and respect for her will never die. Praying for her smooth journey to the Everlasting Happy Place and that all of us grieving will be able to do that in ways that heal and not in ways that are self-destructive. Special prayer for her mom and Baby Girl, Azariah.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Jerilyn; daughter Azariah Jackson; brothers George Coon IV, Jerry Jackson, Hank Jackson, Julian Helsper & Winslow Helsper; many loving relatives and friends.

Missy was preceded in death by her father Gerald “Tiny” Jackson Jr.; stepfather Wolfgang Jackson; brother Cheyenne Coon; uncle Spencer “Bear” Coon; paternal grandparents Gerald Sr. & Elsie Jackson; maternal grandparents George “Hono” Coon & Rose Holden.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. James Bloom will officiate. Burial will be in Coon Family Cemetery in Whitefish. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9th at the funeral home.

Casket bearers will be Forrest Coon, Jerry Jackson, Adam Thayer, Mitchell Oshkeshequoam, Steve Sires & Javier Yanez.
