Jason Merle Nelson, age 42, of Balsam Lake, WI, passed away unexpectedly on February 27, 2025. Jason was born November 16, 1982 in St. Croix Falls, WI. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith. Jason attended Unity Schools and was a 2001 graduate of Unity High School. He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his family and friends without end. Jason’s favorite role was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his son, Nolan. He made sure to make the most of their special time together. They had an unbreakable bond – Jason was always there to provide Nolan his love, support, and encouragement. He was so very proud of Nolan.

Those that were close to Jason knew that he was passionate about helping, organizing, volunteering, and supporting community activities, including the local Iceman 500, ice fishing tournaments on Balsam Lake, and many other adventures. While Jason left us far too soon, the impact he had on the community will be felt for years to come.

An avid outdoorsman, Jason loved to hunt and fish. He loved spending time in the woods or on the lake, particularly with Nolan. He also enjoyed rebuilding and racing snowmobiles and go carts.

His kind heart, sense of humor, and love for his family and friends will never be forgotten. Jason’s loving spirit is carried on by his son, Nolan Nelson; mother, Donna (Leo) Holm; siblings: Karen (Rob) Pennings, Sonja (Chris) Haynes, Kristine (Craig) Turner, John Nelson, Dawn (Mark) Yira, Lee (Ami) Nelson; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a huge circle of friends.
