Janet (Jan) Gayle Wicklund passed away at her residence on Monday, October 30, 2023.

Jan was born February 11, 1947 in Princeton, MN and was raised in Cambridge, MN graduating from Cambridge High School. After attending Cosmetology school she became a beautician, cutting hair in Cambridge for a few years. She had a son, Jason and then moved to Grantsburg, WI in the 70’s six years later she had a daughter, Samantha (Sam). Jan was a bartender at Joe’s Rendezvous where she met many friends. Jan was part of pool leagues and was very much into sports. Jan LOVED her football picks, watching golf, tennis, and other sports. Jan loved animals, had horses, dog’s, cats and later in life loved riding motorcycles. Jan was always accepted in a crowd and she had quite a personality. When she started riding motorcycles she was the only female that drove her own and she was very proud of that. Jan’s biggest passion was golfing! Jan absolutely LOVED the Grantsburg Golf Course. Every chance she got that woman was out there golfing. If she got a score higher than a 47 she was disgusted with herself and boy did everyone hear about it! We think she even loved that golf course more than us kids. LOL

Jan was always ready to have a good time and had a great smile. We hope she is remembered as a fun, a little naughty, and a blast to be around. That woman could give you a run for your money with her wit. That maybe
was passed on to her family. Jan worked hard and played harder.

Jan was preceded in death by her father, Edward Allan Nelson and mother, Dorthy Henretta (Dot) Shanks.

She is survived by her two children son, Jason Allen Blomberg and daughter, Samantha (Ryan) Asklund; granddaughter, Emma (Josh) Bistram; sister, Carol (Robert) Dahl; along with other relatives and many friends.

At this time, no services have been arranged. We hope to plant a tree in her memory at the Grantsburg Golf Course in the Spring. PLEASE think of her, talk about her and if you have any great stories that you would like to share with Jan’s kids they would like to hear them.
