In Memory of James R. Hunter
James Richard Hunter Age 77, of Rice Lake, WI, passed away at his home on Friday, May 24, 2024.
He was born on July 15, 1946 at St. Croix Falls, WI to Ethel and Richard Hunter. At the age of 1, he and his parents moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where he grew up roaming the hills and mountains with his brother. After graduating from Rathdrum High School, he joined the United States Navy and became a Petty Officer 3rd class Machinist Mate. Jim enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. He spent most of his time on the U.S.S. Beale. Jim was married in 1987 at Barron, WI to his wife, Jane Becker. They spent the next 30 years in Port Huron, MI where he worked 38 years for Detroit Edison Power Plant as an electrician. Jim enjoyed fishing in Canada, golfing, and bowling. After meeting his wife, they spent many hours square dancing. After retirement he and his wife, Jane, moved back to Wisconsin.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Jane, are twin daughters, Tiffany (Trent) Nelson and Amber (Tony) Bender; grandchildren, Talon Nelson, Treydon Nelson and Hunter Bender; siblings, Hugh Hunter of Idaho and Penny Peck of Montana; as well as nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date in Wayside Cemetery in Barron, WI. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is serving and assisting the family with the arrangements.
