In Memory of James L. Stimers
James Leroy Stimers, age 77, of Rice Lake, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Dove Healthcare in Rice Lake.
Jim was born on March 24, 1945, the son of Earl and Lucille (Findlay) Stimers.
He graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1963. On December 5, 1970, he married JoAnn Hauck in Rice Lake. He worked for National Foods for many years.
James served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968, deploying for two tours in Vietnam (1966-1968) with the 173rd Airborne Regiment. In addition to his airborne badge, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service, and the Bronze Star.
He enjoyed fishing with his son, Mitch, and watching all different sports on television especially hockey.
He was a member of Emanual Baptist Church in Rice Lake, and also, a member of the Rice Lake VFW Post 2204.
James is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Rice Lake; son, Mitchel (Keela Andrews) of Junction City, KS; step-children, Kevin (Darla) Buesser of Barron and Lori (Jamie) Samson of Lakeland, MN; 7 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren; along with a sister, Connie (Charles) Bourne of Tulsa, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Cheryl Stimers.
Services will be at a later date in Kansas.
Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron.
