In Memory of Jack Lawler

July 8, 1929 - December 22, 2020

Jack Leroy Lawler Sr, 91, supervised his last work crew as he passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Jack was one of six children of Sophia and Ralph (Ben) Lawler, born July 8, 1929 in Alliance, Nebraska. He married his high school sweetheart, Leota, and for more than 70 years called her his “charming bride”. Together they had three children: Jack Jr., Vicki, and Scott; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

After graduating high school Jack worked for and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad. Still a young man, he began working for American Can Company in Denver, Colorado before being transferred to Minnesota in 1967 where he retired after 30 years of service. He was forever proud of his contributions as the company’s Supervisor of Trades.

Never one to sit for long, Jack played as hard as he worked. He enjoyed boating, lake life and snowmobiling which led he and Leota to their “perfect life” on Ham Lake in Danbury, Wisconsin. Jack loved to get a crew together and did that to help create the Ham Lake Association and complete a restoration project at the Town of Jackson Cemetery. In retirement Jack and Leota split their year between Wisconsin and Winter Ranch in Alamo, Texas. He did his share of fishing, became an avid golfer, and did a stint as the range “warden” at Fox Run Golf Course. He and Leota loved being with others and were blessed by finding and keeping so many good friends among those at the lake, fellow golfers, and dinner groups.

We are sad he is gone and yet we have to smile because we know he is together again with his beloved Leota and Sadie, his “baby girl”. The family thanks Eagle Ridge Senior Living in Osceola and St. Croix Regional Hospice for their compassionate care and comfort. We will hold a life celebration when the days are warm and real hugs can be shared among those who loved and will remember him.

Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
