In Memory of Jack A. Hager
Jack Hager passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center in Rice Lake.
He was born August 10, 1934 in Rice Lake, WI to John and Frances Hager. Jack's dad worked for the railroad in Rice Lake. Jack's childhood years were spent along the railroad tracks with his dad. He rode in the switch engine and even drove the old steam locomotive at age 6. He lost his parents early in life, his mother when he was 8, and his father when he was 16.
He worked at several jobs until joining the Rice Lake Fire Department in 1956 and retired in 1988. He joined the National Guard in 1950 and went in the regular Army in 1961. He was also maintenance man at the National Guard Armory for 21 years. He loved the shooting sports and was an expert shooter. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Jack and Marilyn farmed west of Rice Lake for 25 years. They moved to their final home on Mac Rae Lake, north of Birchwood, in 2000. Marilyn passed away in 2014.
He is survived by 2 sons, John (Esther) Hager of Eau Claire and Joel Hager of Rice Lake; 2 daughters, Julie Bistram of Luck and Jill (Jim) Jeffrey of Rice Lake; 6 grandchildren, Amanda, Trista, Abby, Ben, Kayla, and Justin; great-grandchildren, Khalia, Kanyan, Asher, Ella.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11 AM at Skinner Funeral Home Rice Lake, with Reverend Mark Bartlett officiating. Visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Nora Cemetery.
Skinner Funeral Home of Rice Lake is serving the family.
