In Memory of Ivadell Letch
Ivadell (Ivy) Louise Letch, 85, passed away from cancer in her home in Frederic, WI, on November 8, 2021.
She was born during a major snowstorm on November 19, 1935, to Earl and Helen Giller.
She grew up on her parents' dairy farm in Bone Lake Township. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at North Valley Church in Milltown and was confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bone Lake.
She attended the LaFollette School for her elementary schooling and graduated from Luck High School in 1954. Between her graduation and going to college, she worked at the Wold Chamberlain Naval Air Station in the Twin Cities. She worked at Sears while attending the University of Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education. She continued on to earn her Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Her first teaching job was for the Bloomington School District in Minnesota. She met and married John Letch. Daughter, Kim and son, Greg were born. When the marriage dissolved, she accepted a teaching position at the Unity School District in Balsam Lake and moved back to Bone Lake. She taught hundreds of children for 25 years at Unity.
Ivy loved to travel, visiting Canada, the Bahamas, Hawaii, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Germany and Belgium.
After 29 years of teaching, she retired to help care for her elderly mother and raise her two grandchildren. After living in Centuria for 9 years, she purchased a home and moved to Frederic. Ivy volunteered at the Methodist Church in Frederic teaching Bible School, was involved with the Boy Scouts, and was also the district representative and troop leader for the Girl Scouts.
Ivy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Letch of Cumberland; her son, Greg (Kari) Letch of Frederic; grandchildren, Daniel (Bethanie) Letch of White Earth, North Dakota, Ashanti Letch of Frederic, Kendra Letch of Frederic, and Derek (Brianna) Letch of Frederic; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Cabella, Hanah, Hunter, Natalie, Chelsea and Spencer; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
An informal gathering to celebrate Ivy will be held at Bone Lake Lutheran Church, 1101 255th Ave., Luck, WI on Saturday, November 27, 2021, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home and the Northwest Wisconsin Cremation Center in Milltown.
