In Memory of Irene Duncan
Irene Velma Duncan, 91, passed away August 26, 2021 at Sophie’s Manor in Centuria, WI.
Irene was born May 16, 1930, in Somerset, WI to Magnus and Velma Moe of New Richmond, WI.
Irene graduated from New Richmond High School where she played flute in the high school band and worked at the Gem Theater. She met her first husband, Lloyd Talmadge, while working at Friday’s Canning Factory. To this union seven children were born. They lived on a farm in Glenwood City before moving to Frederic in 1971.
She married her current husband, Leo Duncan, in September of 1992.
Irene had multiple occupations which included driving bus, working at Doerr Electric in Siren and she was a tax accessor. Some of her interests included gardening, cooking, traveling and playing cards.
Irene was preceded in death by her sons, Michael and James Talmadge; parents; brothers, Raymond Moe, Ernest Moe, James Moe, and Dale Moe; sister, Gladys Thompson; stepson, Jim Duncan; and second husband, Adolph Mattson.
She is survived by children, David (Beth) Talmadge, Wayne Talmadge, Glen (Kim) Talmadge, Nancy Matz, and Karen Talmadge; daughters-in-law, Julie Talmadge and Connie Talmadge; husband, Leo Duncan; stepchildren, Steven Duncan, Donald (Michele) Duncan, Janet (Vince) Quast, and Susan Duncan; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other family and friends.
The funeral will be Thursday, September 2nd, at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at Rowe Funeral Home in Frederic, WI. Irene will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery following the service.
