In Memory of Herman A. Mangelsen

April 30, 1939 - November 27, 2024

Herman Andrew Mangelsen, 85, of Polk County, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at home.

Born on April 30, 1939, in Burnett County, Herman "Andy" was a hardworking and devoted man who lived a life of service, strength, and love. Throughout his life, Andy wore many hats: handyman, farmer, foreman at Northland Church Furniture, road maintenance worker for Georgetown Township, elected township board member for many years, and portable sawmill expert. His work ethic and resourcefulness were unmatched, and he took pride in every job he undertook, no matter how big or small.

He first met Geraldine when they were just teenagers at the Indian Creek Dance Hall. On September 10, 1960, Andy married the love of his life, Geraldine Mangelsen. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They welcomed their first daughter, Kim Elizabeth, and their second daughter, Renee Lynn. The family shared countless fond memories together.

Andy is survived by his beloved wife, Geraldine; daughters, Kim (Derrick) and Renee; grandchildren, Korrin (Nick), Andrew (Kassie), Joshua (Janessa), Krystal (Chase), Eli, Grace, Abby (Joe), Sierra (Hunter), Elsie, and Reece; and great-grandchildren, Luca, Vivian, Londynn, Ayla, and Landon. He is also survived by his siblings Lee, Pete (Carol) and Diane (Larry), Brother-in-law Lyle, and Sister-in-law Diana.

Andy found joy in simple pleasures. He loved cheering for the Green Bay Packers, fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR, and playing games. He also enjoyed playing guitar and singing for his family. His wit, determination, honesty, storytelling, and sense of humor left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was known for his memorable one-liners, including, "No matter how bad the day is, you can always find some good in it."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Annette; his sisters, Eleanor and Helen; and his brothers, Albert and John.

Family and friends are invited to honor Andy’s life at Rowe Funeral Home in Luck, WI, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, with visitation from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Georgetown Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM, followed by an 11:00 AM service and a luncheon.

Andy’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
