In Memory of Henrietta M. Watson
Henrietta Margaret Watson of rural Spooner, Wisconsin, died on June 29, 2023.
Henrietta was born in Mt. Calvary, WI to Joseph Schaub and Anna Schaefer Schaub on October 28, 1926.
Henrietta moved from her family home at 16 to attend high school, then graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Milwaukee, in 1948. She entered the Nurse Cadet Corps, later working as a traveling nurse.
She married Francis M. Watson on June 18, 1955, and prioritized raising their five children.
Henrietta maintained her passion for nursing and graduated with a BS in Nursing from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN in 1988. Her career as a public health nurse covered several decades; she retired in 2009.
A life-long vocalist, she sang with Milwaukee’s Florentine Opera in her twenties, and later with the church choir at St. Francis de Sales parish. She treasured her time outdoors, including backcountry trips with Frank well into their 70s. Above all, Henrietta was known for her unfailing integrity and her consideration for others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, siblings Al Schaub, Sidonia Lassig, Benno Schaub, Beatrice Abler, Alice Schmitz, Joseph Schaub, Dolores Buerger, Gloria Hackbarth and Marvin Schaub.
Survivors include her children Fred of Columbus, OH, Dan (Barb) of Golden, CO, Jane (John) of Sheldon, MO, Jennifer of Wiesloch, Germany and Ben of Holland, MI; grandchildren Marie, Jacob, Samuel, Abigail, Titus and Amos; great grandchild Jason and her sister Elizabeth Kranig of Phoenix, AZ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Spooner Wisconsin, on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 10:30 AM, and visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the church. Interment will take place at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Spooner, Wisconsin immediately following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Henrietta’s name to the St Francis de Sales Catholic School, 300 Oak Street, Spooner, WI 54801. Donations will be earmarked for tuition assistance.
