In Memory of Hazel Hoffman


August 25, 1931 - October 3, 2020

Hazel Lillian Amundson Hoffman, 89, of Frederic, WI passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Traditions of Frederic.

Hazel was born August 25, 1931 in the township of Garfield to Oscar and Minnie Mork Amundson of Amery, Wisconsin.  She was baptized at Deronda Lutheran Church and later at St. Stephen Catholic Church.

She met Herman Hoffman while she worked in Minneapolis at Honeywell and married him on July 8, 1950 until his passing on March 13, 2001. They farmed in Indian Creek, Wisconsin until 1962 when they moved back to Minneapolis.  Hazel then worked at Control Data until 1974 when they moved back to Indian Creek where they spent the rest of their time together. Hazel and Herman ran the Indian Creek Tavern for a year, then both worked at 3M in Cumberland until retirement.  After Herman's passing Hazel moved to Frederic where she was active at the Senior Citizen Center and St. Dominic Catholic Church.  Hazel loved kitties and cardinals and enjoyed trips to the casinos and playing cards and bingo at the Senior Centers.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; sisters, Florence, Evelynn, Ethel, Inez, Esther and brother, Clifford; plus many dear friends she made at the Senior Center.

She is survived by son, Alan (Jean) of Frederic; daughter, Marsha (Doug) Berg of Wausau; grandchildren, Ryan and Sara Berg; sister-in-law, Luella Amundson of Frederic; brother-in-law, Conrad Hoffman of Minneapolis; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff at Traditions of Frederic for their love and care for Hazel for her last three years and St. Croix Hospice for end-of-life care.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Frederic on Thursday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. Hazel will be laid to rest at Lorain Cemetery following the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to Rowe Funeral Home.
