In Memory of Gordon Krecker


February 22, 1927 - October 4, 2019

Gordon George Krecker, 93, of Turtle Lake died peacefully, Friday October 4, 2019 at Pioneer Nursing Home with family by his side. He was born April 22, 1926 in Turtle Lake to John and Selma (Wuorenma) Krecker. Gordy attended Grant School through the 8th grade. He served with the US Army during WWII until being called home when his father fell ill. He was married in Almena, WI on June 4, 1949 to Edith Garling. Gordy dairy farmed for over thirty years and drove fuel truck for the co-op and later for himself. He also drove bus for the School District of Turtle Lake for twenty years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also spent many hours searching for bargains at auction sales in the area. On Sunday afternoons, he could be found enjoying a lively game of Smear with his relatives. In his later years Gordy would join his friends daily for coffee and on special occasions for an apple pie at McDonalds.

He is survived by his wife, Ede; children: Sherrie (Jon) King of Aurora, MN, Debbie (Dave) Stafne of Menomonie, Gary (Joan) Krecker of Turtle Lake; grandchildren: Melissa King, Kimberly (Bill) Schulz, Ryan Stafne, Erica (Alan) Bass, Sarah Stafne, Kylie Krecker and Gavin (Katie) Krecker; great grandchildren: Emma, Ava, Oliver, Miles, Felix, Mitchell, Tanner, Ian and Nolan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gordon was preceded in death by grandson, Justin King; siblings: Gertie Rayment, Kenneth Krecker and MaryAnn Fall.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Skinner Funeral Home - Turtle Lake with Rev. Greg Becker officiating and military honors to follow accorded by the Almena VFW. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 hour prior to the service. Serving as honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.
